PHILOSOPHY
Programme of Studies
The course lasts for three years and it
offers a basic philosophical formation for
students preparing for priesthood. A
successful completion of Plus-Two course (or
the equivalent) and a pass mark in the
entrance examination conducted by this
seminary are the minimum academic
requirements for admission. The medium of
instruction is English. The first year is a
preparatory year and it purports to provide
the students with a thorough training in
English. During this year emphasis is also
laid on priestly motivation and
methodological skills required for seminary
studies.
During the second and the third years
philosophical subjects are given
prominence. In the second year, the
students are introduced to the vast history
of philosophy, both Indian and Western. In
the third year the emphasis is on systematic
reflections on world, man and God so as to
enable the students to develop a well
balanced vision of reality. Besides, a few
additional courses are offered in order to
help the students to appear for their B.A.
examinations in the University of Kerala.
